Starting in the 7th grade, I participated each year in the Historic City of Jefferson's annual art contest, which focused on historic properties around Jefferson City. In high school, it was on the same day as the Jefferson City Art Club's Sketch Day contest, and I won many awards over the years, including First Place in the Historic City of Jefferson contest and Best of Show in the Sketch Day competition. All my entries were watercolors completed in-situ over the course of four hours, per the rules of the Sketch Day contest.
