I have been experimenting with utilizing fleece for gaming and model railroad scenery, and this project was a quick test of using spray paint to give the fleece a more realistic grass color and texture. Masking the fleece with a checkerboard pattern gave me a handy reference on the effect to see the original fleece color, as well as sprucing up a dollar store chess set with a very portable playing board. A lawn chess set in miniature!
