667 historic Crittal steel casement windows in need of repair or replacement made for cold winters at the St. Benedict's Abbey in Atchison, Kansas, prior to this project that retained the historic steel frames and inserted modern aluminum commercial casement windows in place of the worn sashes. All 600+ openings of the 1929-built Abbey were confirmed and corrected per historic drawings, and details for the new windows developed with the help of the window manufacturer. The new detailing utilized advanced paint coatings to seal the historic steel and prevent galvanic reaction with the aluminum frames.
